Contrastive Analysis: Spanish - English
This is a four-week hands-on course on English-Spanish contrastive syntax. Syntax is the scaffolding that holds a language together. It is the way language structures itself to create meaning. Without a good knowledge of syntax, translators are left groping in the dark, wondering where to put what. This course will help translators understand why the elements were originally arranged in one way, and not another, in a source language sentence, and how to reshuffle and rearrange them in your target language in order to convey an equivalent meaning.
